Hillary Clinton joins presidential race

Posted By on Sun, Apr 12, 2015 at 8:24 AM

No blast e-mail yet, but the Hillary Clinton announcement for presidency should be along soon.

A campaign memo was leaked yesterday about the key talking points.

“We are Hillary for America,” declares the document, first reported by Politico and later obtained by The New York Times.

“Our purpose: To give every family, every small business, and every American a path to lasting prosperity by electing Hillary Clinton the next President of the United States.”

In a sentence freighted with significance, the memo continues: “This campaign is not about Hillary Clinton and not about us — it’s about the everyday Americans who are trying to build a better life for themselves and their families.”

Is America ready to listen?

Polling results show Clinton losing ground in swing states to the entire Republican field. Rand Paul's rise — with such things as his appeal to younger voters with a libertarian view on marijuana — is notable. He has small leads over her in Colorado and Iowa.

UPDATE: At mid-afternoon, after a blast from various Republicans on the morning gasbag shows, Clinton made her announcement by Twitter and other vehicles. She's off to Iowa.

Am I the only person, apart from federal prosecutors, outraged about the criminal enterprise that inveigled itself into a privileged position as an Arkansas taxpayer-financed human services provider to the tune, today, of $43 million a year?

  • Trump immigration protest at LR: Quick and fierce

It was not even 24 hours ago that Sophia Said, director of the Interfaith Center; City Director Kathy Webb and others decided to organize a protest today of Donald Trump's executive order that has left people from Muslim countries languishing in airports or unable to come to the US at all — people with visas, green cards,a  post-doc graduate student en route to Harvard, Google employees abroad, families. I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
