Funding for four new community health centers across state; one run by wife of Steven Jones

Posted By on Tue, May 5, 2015 at 5:39 PM

We reported earlier today on the Obamacare funding awarded for four new community health centers in Arkansas, which increase access to health care for an estimated 10,000 Arkansans. Here are the awards:

ARCare in Augusta: $1,007,179
East Arkansas Family Health Center in West Memphis: $441,667
Healthy Connections in Mena: $541,667
St. Francis House NWA in Springdale: $441,667

Noted: The CEO of East Arkansas Family Health Center is Susan Ward-Jones, M.D., wife of Steven B. Jones, the former state legislator and deputy director of the Department of Human Services who pleaded guilty on federal bribery charges last year. Jones admitted to soliciting and accepting cash payments from Ted Suhl, owner of controversial mental health facilities for juveniles which received millions in Medicaid funds.
