Walmart anti-union video gets leaked

Posted By on Wed, May 20, 2015 at 2:27 PM

OK, everybody knows Walmart hates unions. It recently shut down five stores for alleged plumbing problems that looked suspiciously more like stores with problems with uppity employees.

Anyway, a Walmart training video to throw down on unions and union organizing has been leaked. Gawker reports that it includes the astonishing news that some unions do things in return for money (members' dues). Whereas Walmart operates purely for altruistic reasons, not the half-trillion-dollar interests of the Walton heirs.

Says Gawker:

Walmart also wants to remind employees that, “signing a union card isn’t just about you, you could also be affecting the people who have been trying to work here for years.”

Good point. Those are exactly the people who deserve a union the most.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
