UPDATE: North Pulaski home raided in connection to air base shooting

Posted By on Tue, Jun 16, 2015 at 8:03 AM

KTHV has a report on the raid of a house in the 4000 block of Maddox Road just outside of Jacksonville in connection with yesterday's shooting at the gates of the Little Rock Air Force Base.

Jacksonville PD says those taking part in the raid included a bomb squad and agents of the FBI. A neighbor tells KTHV that around 15 officers descended on a small, white house there around noon yesterday, after blocking off the street for several hours. She said at one point during the operation, she heard a loud boom.

The shooting happened yesterday just after 9 a.m., when police said a man in a dark SUV crashed into a curb near the gates of the Little Rock Air Force Base on Vandenberg Drive and emerged from the truck with a rifle. He was then shot by security at the gate and disarmed. He has not been identified by police, and remains in the hospital. Another person was also wounded in the incident.

UPDATE: The FBI has identified the man shot yesterday as Larry McElroy. Officials with the FBI said that they found no explosives during a search of McElroy's home on Maddox Road yesterday.

I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
