Mike Huckabee would put a 10-day limit on war

The Huckster has gone crazy, as Kevin Drum illustrates well for Mother Jones.

Mike Huckabee would make the U.S. military so fierce and formidable that it could clean the clocks of any warring force in a matter of days, 10 at the outside. Really. he said that.

Here is what we have to do: America has to have the most formidable, fierce, military in the history of mankind. So when we have a threat, whether it is ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranians, whatever it is, we make it very clear that we plan to push back and destroy that threat to us. And we won’t take 10 years doing it, we hopefully won’t even take 10 months, it will be like a 10 day exercise, because the fierceness of our forces would mean that we can absolutely guarantee the outcome of this film. That’s how America needs to operate in the world of foreign affairs, and foreign policy.

Could a ragtag bunch of guerillas hiding in the crevices of vast ranges of the Middle East keep the mightiest powers on earth from a 10-day victory? Not if the Huckster was commander in chief.

It's insane, of course. But Drum raises the better question. How many voters believe this kind of stuff? Nobody who was around for Vietnam, I hope.
