Conner Eldridge's last day as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Arkansas was Friday and, as expected, he told the Associated Press today that he was considering running (as a Democrat) against incumbent U.S. Sen. John Boozman next year. Decision soon, in that filing is in November.

He'd be a sparkling candidate in a long tradition of young, ambitious, smart lawyers — Bumpers, Pryor, Tucker, Clinton, Snyder. Particularly if Arkansas was still a state that voted reflexively Democratic. Of course, if that were the case, more than one Democrat would be mentioned as a potential Senate candidate.
