Little Rock rally to support Planned Parenthood scheduled for Tuesday

Posted By on Mon, Sep 28, 2015 at 6:30 AM

Supporters of Planned Parenthood will be rallying Tuesday, September 29 at the health care provider's clinic in Little Rock at University and 12th Street.

Dubbed national Pink Out Day, the rally starts at 11 a.m. Similar events are happening in cities across the country

Those planning on attending are asked to RSVP here — and to wear pink on Tuesday.

Speaking of Planned Parenthood, take a moment to read Slate's Dahlia Lithwick take down the falsehoods of ascendant GOP candidate Carly Fiorina concerning the sting videos that sparked the current Republican assault on Planned Parenthood. Fiorina stated in the last Republican debate that the anti-abortion activists' tape captured footage of "a fully formed fetus on the table, its heart beating, its legs kicking while someone says, ‘We have to keep it alive to harvest its brain.’ ”

This claim has been widely debunked (the video in question includes a shot of a stillborn fetus, the result of a miscarriage, deceptively spliced into other footage). Yet Fiorina keeps repeating it, refusing to give an inch. Lithwick writes:

This is an extraordinary moment in the annals of political deception. No walk-back, no clarification, just a persistent insistence that a video that doesn’t exist and can’t even be manufactured in the underground labs of political deception is really out there but, like the Emperor’s new clothes, only the virtuous can see it. In Fiorina’s world ... if people want to believe the big lie about the kicking fetus and the brain harvesting badly enough, who are we to tell them it couldn’t have happened?
