Take the downtown Little Rock tour — free. And don't miss the food trucks.

City promoters are planning free downtown  tours twice daily on Saturdays in October, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. (There will only be a 4 p.m. tour on Oct. 10, the day of the Race for the Cure.)

The Downtown Little Rock Partnership, Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau and Rock Region Metro are particiapting in the promotion, with Rock Metro throwing in a free all-day River Rail pass.

The 90-minute tours —- by foot and streetcar — will start at La Petite Roche Plaza, Riverfront Park, the river trail and well-known sites are part of the journey. Volunteers will lead the tours. 

And speaking of downtown attractions on Saturdays in October:

This Saturday is the day for the Main Street Food Truck Festival, with 45 trucks lined up for the biggest mobile mess hall ever. Details here at Eat Arkansas. And also, the fest has a website, too.

From a release on the plans:

“This is a perfect opportunity to showcase all of the great things Little Rock has to offer,” said Gretchen Hall, Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau President & CEO. “We’ve experienced tremendous growth in the last decade with new hotels, restaurants and attractions. This tour is a great way to introduce visitors, and in many ways re-introduce our local residents, to all our city has to offer.”

... "Created more than ten years ago as a way to help visitors discover downtown, the Downtown Navigators have been volunteering there time serving as guides during peak summer travel season. Their role as walking guides on this new downtown tour is a natural fit, and we are excited to be a part of this great new venture,” said Gabe Holmstrom, Downtown Little Rock Partnership Executive Director.
