Baxter to add 225 jobs over five years in Mountain Home

Baxter International, which employs about 1,000 in a plastics and medical device manufacturing plant in Mountain Home, is planning to add 225 employees over the next five years, the state announced today.

The expansion will produce components for disposable medical devices. The Arkansas Department of Economic Development  worked with the company on the plan and I've asked what state benefits were provided as incentives.

Baxter has been in Mountain Home since 1964. Its products include renal and hospital goods, including for dialysis; sterile IV solutions;  infusion systems and devices; parenteral nutrition; biosurgery products and anesthetics; and pharmacy automation, software and services.

UPDATE: Here's the incentive list from ADED:

* Create Rebate - provides a cash rebate based on payroll of new jobs. Rebate will equal 3.9% of payroll associated with the new jobs. Create Rebate agreement is for seven years.

* $2.3 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – for training equipment and electrical upgrades

* Tax Back - provides sales tax refunds on building materials, taxable machinery and equipment associated with the expansion project.

*· $210,000 in Workforce Training Funds
