State Police now probing arson of former Bald Knob police chief's truck

Posted By on Mon, Oct 26, 2015 at 12:40 PM

The Searcy Daily Citizen reports that the State Police are now investigating the arson Sept. 14 of a pickup owned by then-Bald Knob Police Chief Erek Balentine. It was also spray-painted with the legend, 2 Amendment.

Balentine never offered a theory for the crime and specifically discounted as a suspect a man he'd arrested for carrying a weapon into a McDonald's. Balentine resigned the chief's job Oct. 5 out of what he said was concern for his family. He went to work for the Beebe police, but was fired Oct. 15, the Daily Citizen reported. No reason was given.
