State tax revenue continues upward

Posted By on Tue, Nov 3, 2015 at 9:43 AM

The state tax revenue report for October continues to show income higher than last year and the forecast.

The gross in October was $490.4 million, or $11.8 million above last year and $25.9 million, or 5.6 percent, above forecast.  Sales taxes, a good economic measure, were up 5.2 percent year to year.

For the first four months of the year, net revenue is running $63.5 million above forecast.

Enough surplus to cover past use of one-time money on prison expansion and the like? Enough to fix the teacher insurance program with realistic rates? Or, wait: Maybe another tax cut for rich people.
