Sean Alexander, a senior at Hendrix College from Little Rock, has won a prestigious Marshall scholarship.

He’ll study in England and continue his interest in rural hunger that developed during his work for the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. Said a Hendrix release:

Alexander’s research interests center on psychosocial stresses – shame, embarrassment, or hopelessness – and their effects on hunger relief program participation and rural economic development in the United States.

Great Britain funds about 40 scholars a year in program meant to commemorate the humanitarian ideas of the Marshall Plan.

Alexander is the son of Peter and Kris Alexander and a graduate of eStem Charter School in Little Rock.
