Politico reports
that Little Rock talk show host Alice Stewart has left her post as communications director for Mike Huckabee's flagging campaign for the GOP nomination. Stewart wouldn't comment on the circumstances of her departure:

Stewart said Monday that she left her role as communications director and was no longer working for the campaign in any capacity. She declined to provide more details, saying only that she's "no longer" with the campaign.

In 2012, Stewart served as the press secretary for former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum's presidential campaign. Following the election, Stewart hosted a radio talk show in Little Rock, Arkansas.

It's yet another sign that Huckabee's days on the campaign trail are likely numbered.

Judging from Stewart's Twitter feed, the separation perhaps happened a bit earlier: On Dec. 7, last Monday, her torrent of daily Huck-centric tweets suddenly stopped cold.

Aside from Huckabee and Santorum, Stewart also worked for yet another evangelical presidential flavor of the month, former Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann. Before that, she served as press secretary for Arkansas Secretary of State Mark Martin.

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
