Here's a new website/app that might interest you: Some entrepreneurs have developed BuildZoom, which compiles every building permit issued around the country based on data collected by local building departments.

Access is free. The link I provided goes to the Little Rock search page. The site makes money by selling ads to contractors. Or hopes to.

Further information here.

You do wonder, in the digital age, why, say, Little Rock city offices could have easy web access to such mapped data, complete with photos (readily available at the assessor's website).

  • Another Republican miracle-working governor

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
