Little Italy petition to incorporate denied

Posted By on Fri, Feb 26, 2016 at 2:29 PM

Pulaski County Judge Barry Hyde has denied the Little Italy community's petition to incorporate into a town. In the judgement, Hyde cites the "unreasonably" large geographic area of the proposed town, its lack of necessary unity of place and an inadequate budget among reasons for denying incorporation.

Kristy Eanes and Chris Dorer, co-chairs of the Little Italy Incorporation Task Force, issued the following statement:

After a decades-long push for community preservation, we are extremely disappointed by today’s decision. With the same self-determination of our ancestors, we will persist in our dream of official township as long as there are other options still available to us.
