Ballot measures collecting signatures today

Posted By on Tue, Mar 1, 2016 at 11:03 AM

With voters out casting their ballots today, backers of several ballot measures will be gathering signatures.

The D-G reports that canvassers will be out for The Arkansas Medical Cannabis Act, The Arkansas Hemp and Cannabis Amendment, and the Arkansas Term Limits Amendment of 2016.

The other big medical marijuana effort, led by Little Rock attorney David Couch, won't have canvassers out; Couch is waiting until he gets approval from the attorney general on another ballot measure regarding alcohol sales in dry counties so that he can collect signatures for both efforts at once.

In order to appear on the ballot in November, constitutional amendments need 85,000 verified signatures of registered voters across at least fifteen counties, while initiated acts require 50,000 across at least fifteen counties.
