  • TOM COTTON: To talk with Donald Trump, report says
Politico reports that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has a meeting Monday in Washington that  Arkansas U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton is expected to join. Cotton so far hasn't endorsed a candidate for president.

A source close to Cotton, a first term Republican known for his hawkish foreign policy views, said that Cotton's attendance did not signal an outright endorsement, but rather that he was interested in hearing what the Republican frontrunner has to say.

A veep slot in the making? Cotton is as tall a talker as Trump in his way, though generally a bit better briefed on details. Who said this election season couldn't get worse?

By the way: Anybody else notice the explosion of Tom Cotton entries on social media, particularly a steady diet of grip-and-grin shots with visiting Arkies? A kinder, gentler Cotton being cultivated? No sign that includes newspaper people who might not be among his admirers.

More here on Mr. Trump's trip to Washington.
