A groaning open line: Plus, UALR coach on move

Posted By on Sun, Mar 27, 2016 at 5:21 PM

Too much ham, deviled eggs and coconut cake for me. Sorry. But here is an open line.

No word yet on whether  UNLV is going to snag UALR basketball coach Chris Beard. I believe UALR has already done what it can to improve Beard's contract after his first big season. But it is not likely to able to match Vegas money if they decide Beard is their choice.  A Nevada report says one candidate turned down $1.5 million, about six times Beard's pay going into this year.

UPDATE: Media reports from Nevada Monday morning say Beard is to take the job. No details yet, but his pay raise should be substantial.
