The Little Rock billboard question

Posted By on Fri, Apr 1, 2016 at 7:19 AM

Re  the ongoing questions raised by City Director Kenneth Richardson on a push by billboard companies to be allowed to convert billboard on I-630 and Shackleford Road to digital displays:

Richardson reports that a representative for Lamar Advertising has assured him the federal highway standards on lights will apply and that the lighted boards will operate in those parameters.

Richardson says, however, that the industry still hasn't revealed which billboards it will make digital or to be specific or even guarantee any billboards would be removed if they get approval to change some existing boards.  Maybe more will be revealed Tuesday.

As an I-630 driver, I don't think the road needs additional distractions from kinetic digital signs.
