Pulaski Tech board sets meeting on UA merger

Posted By on Fri, May 6, 2016 at 10:23 AM

The board of Pulaski Technical College will meet on campus in North Little Rock, the campus center grand hall, at 9 a.m. Wednesday to discuss a proposal to join the University of Arkansas System.

Dr. Donald Bobbitt, president of the University of Arkansas System, proposed the idea in March. If the Pulaski Tech Board approves, the UA Board of Trustees would consider the partnership with the two-year college May 25-26.

A 15-minute public comment session will precede the meeting, with speakers limited to three minutes. Requests to comment must be completed and submitted before the start of the meeting.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
