Bill Clinton is commencement speaker at namesake school

Posted By on Mon, May 9, 2016 at 11:05 AM

Former President Bill Clinton will speak during the 10th commencement ceremony of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Clinton Presidential Center grounds.

Forty-one graduates will receive master's degrees after 40 hours of class work, three field service projects, a team project, an international project and a final individual project.

Graduates come from around the globe — Nigeria, Uganda, Benin, China, Kenya, Venezuela and even places like Texas, Judsonia and Pine Bluff.

I've mentioned before that we've befriended a first-year student from Malawi this year. We joined him for a final school year visit  to his Arkansas home church, Allison Presbyterian, on Sunday and then stoked him up with Whole Hog barbecue to fortify him for a summer of work ahead in India. It's encouraging to think that the Clinton School is germinating future leaders to be planted all over the world.

Ten years. Time flies.
