Beebe alderman accepts plea deal and pays $750 fine for violating election law

Posted By on Thu, Aug 4, 2016 at 2:52 PM

David Pruitt, a Beebe alderman charged with violating election law by voting twice in the March preferential primary, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor as part of a negotiated plea deal, the Daily Citizen reports. Pruitt cast a ballot both during early voting and on election day.

Pruitt was fined $750, which he paid. Avoiding a felony will allow him to run for re-election in November. Pruitt said that he made an "honest mistake."
