Senate soundly rejects House speaker's constitutional amendment

Posted By on Fri, Mar 31, 2017 at 10:27 AM

The Senate took up HJR 1003 today, House Speaker Jeremy Gillam's proposed constitutional amendment that would, through additional requirements, just about spell the end of constitutional amendments initiated by the people.

The vote was 9-21, with five not voting. The vote was expunged and can be tried again.

Do you get the feeling, perhaps, that there's some inter-chamber bad blood?
