More testimony on Russian election hacking

Posted By on Wed, Jun 21, 2017 at 9:45 AM

For the readers who still think Russian efforts to meddle in U.S. elections are fiction:

More here from the Washington Post. The thinking is that vote tallies weren't affected, but they believe efforts to pierce systems were made.

But hackers successfully exploited a “small number” of networks, Liles said, likening the act to making it through a home’s front door.
This is important, just as Politico's article about the sorry security of the Georgia voting system is important. This is not about replaying 2016. It's about trying to get America prepared for future hacking and election meddling. It should be a bipartisan concern. Who knows? The Russians might decide to help a Democrat next time around.

  • Trump immigration protest at LR: Quick and fierce

It was not even 24 hours ago that Sophia Said, director of the Interfaith Center; City Director Kathy Webb and others decided to organize a protest today of Donald Trump's executive order that has left people from Muslim countries languishing in airports or unable to come to the US at all — people with visas, green cards,a  post-doc graduate student en route to Harvard, Google employees abroad, families. I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
