Democrats flip two legislative seats in Oklahoma

Posted By on Wed, Jul 12, 2017 at 11:18 AM

Charles Pierce thinks a parade is in order on news that Democrats turned two deep red legislative districts in crimson Oklahoma blue in special elections Tuesday — a Senate seat and a House seat, both vacated by Republicans in bad circumstances.

But the winners weren't running against the disgraced former seat holders. The Senate race was won by a Democrat talking about teachers, the state's budget cuts (prompted by overzealous tax cutting) and families.

Surely there's some useful  education in these elections for Democrats nearby.
