Senate defeats Obamacare repeal

Posted By on Fri, Jul 28, 2017 at 6:22 AM

Overnight the U.S. Senate defeated the so-called skinny repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

The 48 Democrats were joined by three Republicabs — Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and John McCain — to defeat a bill that would have deprived millions of health coverage and, the CBO study said, brought years of 20 percent insurance rate increases.

Sens. John Boozman and Tom Cotton did the wrong thing again.

The words are not understood by the current leadership.

More to come when I can get to computer.

Here is Washington Post coverage.

Here's McCain's statement urging a return to normal legislating, with committee meetings, hearings and understanding of legislation before votes.

Also here's a dramatic retelling.
