Weekend brings two more Little Rock homicides

The Little Rock homicide toll for 2017 rose to 41 over the weekend with two more killings.

* Allen Sims, 55, was found dead about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in an alleyway between Arch and Gaines Street near 24th. He had suffered blunt trauma to the head. Based on accounts from witnesses and evidence at the scene, police later arrested Dupree Boatner, 21, and charged him with first-degree murder in the death.

* Vincent James, 48 suffered a fatal gunshot wound about 2:50 a.m. Sunday as he was entering his home at 3108 Main Street. He told police he was shot in both legs during a robbery attempt by two men. He was able to walk to a neighbor's house to call 911, but died during hospital treatment about 9 a.m. No arrests have been made.
