The deluge in Texas

Posted By on Sun, Aug 27, 2017 at 7:58 AM

I'm gripped by news of the hurricane that has struck Texas because I grew up in that part of the world (SW La.). I know the cost of not just wind but rain in flat, low-lying places where the water has no place to run but up.

But 24 inches in 24 hours? And forecasts saying that amount or more is still to come.

The Houston Chronicle is covering thoroughly. Good thing they have a website. It's hard to imagine it will be possible to deliver all the print versions with major roads closed all over the city. A Twitter item says a TV station had to evacuate its ground-floor studio because of rising water.
