State trooper complains over being hit by another trooper

Posted By on Fri, Sep 29, 2017 at 4:09 PM

State Police Lt. John Overman says he suffered a "lifelong" injury in January when he was struck by a police car driven by Trooper Alan Aiken during chase of a suspect, 40/29 reports.

He says in a formal complaint also that Aiken is a danger because of inability to "control emotions" during stressful situations. His complaint contends Aiken has been restricted from joining pursuits.

Overman was in plain clothes when struck by Aiken. He said he thought Aiken mistook him for the suspect.

The State Police said it is reviewing Overman's complaint as well as Troop L in Northwest Arkansas, to which Aiken is assigned.
