Big announcement today from Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. She's using money won from class-action lawsuit settlements for the state to open a two-person office in Northwest Arkansas — Lowell to be precise.

Lots of Republicans up in NWA, as Rutledge, who's running for re-election and angling for governor U.S. senator in the future, well knows.

Who drops in the attorney general's office anyway? It's not exactly high-traffic in my experience.

Don't go there with a complaint about payday lenders. That's a consumer protection issue in which Rutledge is decidedly NOT interested. Want to burn some coal? Dump some chemicals in your neighbor's creek? Deny some woman an abortion? Discriminate against gay people? Deny benefits to a working person? Pester an immigrant? Talk about the essential goodness of guns? Come right this way. General Rutledge will see you.

Said a Rutledge release:

“Since my inauguration, it has been my goal to make Arkansans more aware of the services of the office and to make it more accessible,” said Attorney General Rutledge. “The opening of a district office in northwest Arkansas, a region that is the fastest-growing in the state and the 22nd fastest-growing in the U.S., will allow these Arkansans greater access to resources and assistance from the Attorney General’s office. No Arkansan, including those in the communities of northwest Arkansas, should have to drive to downtown Little Rock or get on the phone to receive the help they need. Staff in the district office will be able to assist with consumer-related issues and will speak to groups and attend events to make sure residents know more about available resources and services.”
That office address:

Puppy Creek Place
213 W. Monroe, Suite 0
Lowell, AR 72745
(501) 537-5661 OR (501) 537-5662

Gov. Asa Hutchinson apparently felt the burn from KARK's exclusive Tuesday night on his plans to cut state support of War Memorial Stadium in half beginning July 1, 2018. He has a so-far secret plan to make the stadium self-sustaining. We bet that doesn't include state support.
