Open line. Also, death of John Lewellen

Here is an open line. Also: John Lewellen, a retired educator and Department of Human Services veteran with a long career in public service, has died at 87.

Mr. Lewellen had been a city director, county justice of the peace and a state representative from District 34 for six years through 2004. He was a founder of the Democratic Black Caucus and a leader in legislation that led to creation of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center.

Survivors include his wife, Wilhelmina Epps Lewellen, who succeeded him in the House for six years.
