Four senators call on President Trump to resign over sexual misconduct allegations

Posted By on Mon, Dec 11, 2017 at 4:09 PM

In an interview on CNN today, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) called on President Trump to resign over allegations of sexual misconduct. That makes her the fourth senator to call for his resignation, following Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Corey Booker of New Jersey. The calls follow the announced resignation of Al Franken of Minnesota last week following sexual harassment allegations.

Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct — including harassment and assault — by at least 19 women. Trump boasted of getting away with sexual assault on a tape that was released shortly before the election. He also publicly bragged about another action he has been accused of: using his position to enter pageant dressing rooms while young contestants were changing. "I sort of get away with things like that," he told Howard Stern.

Trump maintains that all 19 women are lying.

Other lawmakers are echoing the calls for congressional investigation made by Gillibrand and a number of Trump's accusers:
