Gov. Hutchinson Brian Chilson

Gov. Hutchinson offered an anodyne welcome to challenger Jared Henderson, who announced his Democratic candidacy for governor today, KATV reports:

I welcome the candidate to the race and I expect there might be more. This is still somewhat early in terms of the filing period, it begins in February, so there very well could be more. I think it’s important to take it a step at a time. It is the political season and I am not going to take anything for granted and I am going to work very hard and I look forward to getting to know the opponent and what their ideas are.

This race needs some pepper, so let me invite our readers to participate in some baseless gossip: Will any other Democrat run? Will Hutchinson get a challenge in the primary from a rightwing gadfly? If so, has Asa stayed on Steve Bannon‘s good side or will the Natural State get a dose of Bannon’s Nazi-and-Soviet-inspired propaganda machine? Jan Morgan, the Hot Springs gun range owner who declared her gun range Muslim-free is considering a primary run against Hutchinson, and she seems like a Bannon kind of gal.
