BBC has aired a radio interview of former President Barack Obama by Britain’s Prince Harry.  Imagine Donald Trump in the interview chair.

Obama didn’t mention his successor by name. But:

…he pointedly remarked on the importance of using the internet and social media to unite rather than divide, a tactic Trump is known to ignore, evidenced by his near-daily Twitter rants against the media, individuals and even members of his own administration.

“One of the dangers of the internet is that people can have entirely different realities,” he said in the interview with BBC’s Radio 4 Today, which was guest edited by Prince Harry Charles Albert David. “They can be cocooned in information that reinforces their current biases…. The question has to do with how do we harness this technology in a way that allows a multiplicity of voices, allows a diversity of views, but doesn’t lead to a Balkanization of society and allows ways of finding common ground.”

In case you didn’t know, Britain is bubbling with the controversy over whether Obama should be invited to the prince’s wedding. The government fears a bad reaction from Trump should he be snubbed and Obama get an invite. Imagine a world where foreign governments fear petulant behavior by the nominal leader of the free world over wedding invites. Harry has dodged the question so far, but made clear his warm feelings toward Obama.

“We share the same kind of mind-set and the outlook on the charitable sector, on foundations and mainly on the youth of today.”

Trump, meanwhile, is unpopular in England. An invite for a visit hasn’t yet been firmed up because of apparent fear of mass protests of a Trump visit.
