Clinton public schools in Van Buren County were briefly on lockdown as a "precautionary measure" this morning after a threat was made against the Clinton School District. The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office posted the following message on its Facebook page at around 8:30 a.m.:
There has been a threat made at the Clinton School District, the school is on lock down at this time. This is just a precautionary action. The Sheriff's Office has made contact with the subject that has made the threats. The Sheriff's Office will notify the media when all is clear and the school is no longer on lock down.
Around ten minutes later, the sheriff posted an update that the lockdown had been lifted:
******ATTENTION******
We have made physical contact with the individual. The lock down of Clinton School has been lifted.
The individual was not a student, the Sheriff's office said in response to a question submitted by a commenter on the Facebook page.
