The Supreme Court money sewer seems likely to keep flowing until November. Will Bart Virden survive a dirty money onslaught to hang onto a Court of Appeals seat? That’s one big question still undecided.
Some legislative races are up in the air. Might voters defeat the tainted Bob Ballinger, more likable but more ethically challenged than Bryan King? Linda Collins-Smith seems likely to be retired from the Senate by Independence County voters’ preference for James Sturch, despite her wins in the rest of her district’s counties. UPDATES: Ballinger won, as did Sturch, thus turning out two anti-Obamacare incumbents.
Some new female faces are scoring wins in legislative races. Perhaps that factor helps explain Courtney Goodson’s ticket-topping performance for Supreme Court despite an onslaught of dirty money.
Will a black candidate when a countywide race in Pulaski — Eric Higgins for sheriff? Who’ll be in the runoff for Little Rock district judge? At some hour, the Pulaski Election Commission will get the votes counted. Sooner or later, they usually do.
