WHAT TO DO? When the a/c goes on the blink? urban scrawl

I got a tip last night about an employer whose air conditioning failed yesterday. Employees were allowed to go home but had to take leave time to do so. It was 97 and humid in Little Rock. New buildings, such as one in question, aren’t typically designed for ventilation with outside air.

In my lifetime, I’ve worked and gone to school (in South Louisiana even) in places without air conditioning, but with lots of fans and open windows. But that was long ago. In more recent times, I’ve fled my house for a hotel on a hot night when the power failed.

Thoughts? Was the boss reasonable to insist on work or use of leave?
