James Barrett,  who escaped from the Arkansas State Hospital Saturday was captured by U.S. marshals today at a Motel 6 in Memphis, KARK/Fox 16 reports.

Barrett was being held at the State Hospital pending trial on a rape charge in Faulkner County.

Officials have not yet said how he managed to escape from the hospital, on West Markham Street.

Further reports indicate he was in the car of an unidentified woman in Memphis.

Police chief Perry Wyse at the State Hospital said the escape remained under investigation, but to my question of whether Barrett’s companion assisted him, he said, “No assistance by anyone.
