Former Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson appeared briefly today before a federal magistrate to enter not guilty pleas to a dozen wire and tax fraud charges that he spent campaign money on himself and didn't report income.

Federal Magistrate Patricia Harris allowed him to remain free pending trial, currently set for Oct. 22.  The Democrat-Gazette reported that Hutchinson's father, former U.S. Sen. Tim Hutchinson, now a lobbyist, was in court for the hearing.

His uncle, Gov. Asa Hutchinson, wasn't on hand.
