The Washington Post has assembled a graphic look at the chances for Democrats to pick up state legislative seats around the U.S. Spoiler: Little hope in Arkansas.
The key factor is looking at legislative districts that Hillary Clinton carried in 2016 where Republicans face election contests. According to the maps, there’s not a single one in Arkansas in the Senate or House. Oh well.
More Democrats are running. And in Arkansas, they include some well-funded, well-organized candidates in districts where Democrats have been competitive before.
The article gives some hope for reversing the national trend of rising Republican dominance at the state legislative level. But that effort still faces an enormous amount of dark money from the Kochs and similar and epidemic vote suppression by Republicans in control.
