Chad Griffin, the Arkansas native who’s become one of the country’s most influential voices in the fight for equal rights based on sexual orientation and gender, is stepping down as leader of the Human Rights Campaign.
Griffin, who grew up in Arkadelphia and got into politics at 19 in the Clinton White House, was instrumental in the campaigning that led to the legalization of same-sex marriages. He hasn’t said what he’ll do next, but politics seem a likely course.
