The cops and robbers open line

  • CRIME SCENE: Off Mabelvale Pike.
Here's your open line. The news is mostly from the LRPD.

* Another shooting death in Little Rock this morning. A young man was found on a dead-end road off Mabelvale Pike.

* Frank Scott Jr., the mayoral candidate, got national airtime on CNN to talk about how the Little Rock Fraternal Order of Police had tarred him with a Facebook post. The FOP has endorsed Baker Kurrus. It took down the post, but hasn't really apologized for it. FYI: The FOP endorsed in three Little Rock municipal races, coincidentally bypassing black candidates in each race. In other races, it prefers Republicans. That's in keeping with the membership, mostly white and mostly residents of suburban cities to avoid the crime and majority black schools of Little Rock. And city government gives many of them a free patrol car in which to commute. This all gives you the big picture on community policing Little Rock-style.
