She just keeps lying.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, when facing federal investigators under oath, admitted that she lied about the Comey firing, the Mueller report revealed. She repeatedly made outlandish statements to the press that were not founded on anything and elaborated on her fabulation when questioned, seething with sanctimonious indignation all the while. She told outright lies, with no basis in fact, habitually and with gusto. She explained to investigators that it was a “slip of the tongue.”

In a remarkable appearance on Good Morning America, Sanders explained, “It was in the heat of the moment, meaning that it wasn’t a scripted talking point. I’m sorry that I wasn’t a robot like the Democrat [sic] Party.”

As everyone knows, only robots tell the truth.

Sanders, no longer under oath, doubled down on her original lie in her interview with Good Morning America. She repeatedly stated in May 2017 that she had “heard from countless members of the FBI” supporting the Comey firing and that the “the rank and file of the FBI had lost confidence in their director.” The Mueller report reveals that she confessed that these sweeping statements were simply made up (and these fictions had nothing to do with the president’s decision to fire him, which was Sanders’ claim).

She told Good Morning America that the only trouble was the word “countless,” and immediately spun off into yet more lying and dissembling. It was kind of funny and kind of sad to watch, because it was all so familiar. She was lying to Good Morning America in exactly the same manner as she lied about the Comey firing in 2017. She has been caught red-handed lying to the press and the American people. No one can believe a word she says. Her response is to keep lying, in just the same way, with just the same fury (she is never more righteous than when she knows she’s wrong). It’s what she does. In the heat of the moment, in the slip of the tongue, she is a robotic liar.
