LIVE ON STAGE!!!

Posted By on Wed, Feb 7, 2007 at 9:40 AM

Well, I've been shirking some of my duty on informing upon the local theater scene, having missed golden opportunities to plug West Side Story at The Weekend Theater, which was sold out for it's entire run, and which I saw and loved.  As well, I didn't say anything about a good production of Noises Off with Community Theater of Little Rock.  The second act was well worth the price of admission and sitting through the first act which was a little weak.  But we must press on people, and press on we shall!

So currently around town you can find the following shows:

 Fences
by August Wilson
Arkansas Repertory Theater
February 2 - 18, 2007

From the pen of one of our country's most acclaimed playwrights and winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and four Tony Awards, including Best Play, Fences tells the powerful story of Troy Maxson, a former star of the Negro Baseball Leagues but now a disillusioned and cynical garbage collector who strives to keep his family intact while battling his troublesome past and stubborn pride. Fences explores the boundaries—real and imagined-- we place on ourselves and others as we confront life in an ever-changing world. • Alltel Arena?

So now that Verizon has become the Godzilla of American Cellphonery, what's going to happen to Alltel Arena?  Will Verizon keep the sponsorship tie-in, will someone else step up and buy it or will it retain the Alltel name (which I'm sure it can't after the deal is up as the name is now property of Verizon, right?)
