Another Arkansan on Broadway....

Posted By on Fri, Sep 28, 2007 at 10:16 AM

Arkansas native Ashlie Atkinson (Fat Pig, Rescue Me, Inside Man, Sex in the City (movie)) has made her Broadway Debut in The Ritz, presented by the Roundabout Theater Co. at Studio 54, October 11 - December 2, 2007 (previews started September 15, 2007)!

More on The Ritz from Broadway.com, When Gaetano Proclo needs to hide from mobster Carmine Vespucci, he escapes to the Ritz. When Gaetano realizes the Ritz is a gay bathhouse and not a Turkish bath, he pretends to be a big-time Broadway producer to keep suspicions low. When Carmine locates Gaetano, wild, manic mayhem ensues.
The Ritz premiered on Broadway in January 1975 at the Longacre Theatre. After closing, it was made into a feature film starring Broadway leading players Jack Weston (Gaetano), Rita Moreno (Googie) and Jerry Stiller (Carmine).

The revival includes Rosie Perez (Do the Right Thing, White Men Can't Jump, etc.) as well as other notable Broadway stars.

Break-a-leg Ashlie!

  • Alltel Arena?

So now that Verizon has become the Godzilla of American Cellphonery, what's going to happen to Alltel Arena?  Will Verizon keep the sponsorship tie-in, will someone else step up and buy it or will it retain the Alltel name (which I'm sure it can't after the deal is up as the name is now property of Verizon, right?)
