Crescent Dragonwagon comes to Little Rock this weekend to preach the word about cornbread. In addition to her appearance Saturday as a celebrity guest judge at the Arkansas Cornbread Festival, Crescent will be the special guest at the Historic Arkansas Museum Friday at lunch for Cornbread: Food, Shelter, Story. The author of "The Cornbread Gospels" will speak on cornbread, then there will be a beans and cornbread gathering. It's free, it's awesome, check out the release on the jump.

Historic Arkansas Museum and Arkansas Times present

Cornbread: Food, Shelter, Story
A talk by Crescent Dragonwagon

When: Friday • November 4 • Noon
Where: Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 East 3rd Street, Little Rock, AR 72201

Followed by a taste of beans and cornbread

In every wedge of golden cornbread, there lies a secret ingredient. Not the buttermilk, cornmeal or type of skillet—but the invisible truth that cornbread is identity. Cornbread tells us about ourselves, our past and quite possibly our future.

Join our partner, the Historic Arkansas Musuem, for a talk by Crescent Dragonwagon, author of The Cornbread Gospels and many other books for cooks, for children, for poets, for readers. Talk starts at noon on Friday, November 4th, 2011. Stick around and sample the food that fines us, peek into the kitchen of one of the historic homes, and see cornbread cooked the old-fashioned way. Doors will be open until 5 pm.

Then come see the Historic Arkansas Museum booth on Saturday, November 5 at the Arkansas Cornbread Festival. Judge with Crescent Dragonwagon in the 2011 Cornbread Competition.
