A double dip on the Cheese Dip Championship

CHEESY!
  • CHEESY!

Registration is now open for teams wishing to compete in this year's World Cheese Dip Championship. The third-annual festival of all things 'Veeta will be held at the Clinton Library on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and got a big boost from Gourmet.com in June, when it was named one of the top ten food festivals in the country.

Cheesefood combatants in both the "amateur" and "professional" classes can register online at www.cheesedip.net. There'll be cash prizes for the winners, and the champeen cheeser in the pro division will go on to compete in the New Orleans Roadfood Festival. Entry fee is $100 for amateur teams, and $125 for professionals. Proceeds benefit Harmony Health Clinic in Pulaski County.

Hungry for some Redneck Fondue before then? Check out the Arkansas Times Cheesedip Guide, which features the skinny (figuratively speaking, of course) on 15 local varieties.

  • Trump unfit

Even as an oligarch, President Trump turns out to be breathtakingly incompetent. Is there any reason to suppose he's even loyal to the United States? Does he even understand the concept? Trump is loyal to Trump, and to his absurdly swollen ego. Nothing and nobody else.

  • Goodbye, Mr. Trump

It is hard to escape the feeling that the fortunes of President Trump and the country took a decisive, and for Trump a fatal, turn May 9-10, when the president fired the director of the FBI over its investigation of Russian efforts to swing the presidential election to him and the very next day shared top-secret intelligence with Russian officials in an Oval Office meeting closed except to a Kremlin press aide toting electronic gear to capture the intimate session for Russians but not Americans.
