Food Feedback Friday: prosciutto, taco trucks, and the Russian Farmer

Welcome to another fun edition of Food Feedback Friday! This is our weekly request to you, Gentle Readers, to let us know what's delicious here, there, and everywhere. It's a big week for food here in Little Rock: the opening of South on Main had many singing the praises of Matt Bell's good Southern cooking, and our friends at Hillcrest Artisan Meats took possession of that 17 pound leg of La Quercia prosiutto seen above — a prize won for them by all of you that voted them the best La Quercia distributor in these United States. Brandon and the rest of the H.A.M. staff will be giving out samples starting today, and he tells me that this ham "makes the imported iberico look like something you might get at Kroger." That's a bold statement, but Mr. Brown knows from pork, so I trust him.

And what went on in last week's thread? mcmm had a disappointing trip to Cotham's in Scott, especially with a blackberry cobbler that "came out as this sticky ball that was more crust than berry." superdan sang the praises of Capitol Smokehouse, describing their meat as "tender, juicy, smoky and a little bit sweet." New guest contributor KevinS continued his one-man campaign to get you all to eat at Baja Grill (and you totally should), while Big Fun described a perfect BLT: "1) toasted slices of Boulevard Bread's ciabatta; 2) a thick slathering of Duke's mayonnaise (a new discovery that has booted Hellman's to the back of the fridge); 3) crisp slices of Wright's bacon (the best we've found and at a great price); 4) slices of heirloom tomatoes bought from the Russian Farmer at the Argenta Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings." Sounds great to us!

So what's on your minds, food folks? Your normal host, Mr. Walker, will be back next week — he's taking a well-earned vacation to the land of his forefathers to eat a lot of Jell-O and replenish his stock of jorts. Food Feedback starts...RIGHT NOW!
