Give Me a Break

Boy, we loves us some natural gas.  The House is just trying to make it official.  Check out John Williams's blog for the full story.  Here's the short of it: legislators want to officially recognize Southwestern Energy Company for the first producing well in the Fayetteville Shale.  Come on.  This works out great for the gas guys and their PR people.  Not so good for people with dirty drinking water, or whose property has been destroyed for a pipeline, or who can't find peace in their own homes due to the noise, or for those who've been run off the road by trucks hauling waste.  This is just great!

  • Bad health care bill, again

Wait! Postpone tax reform and everything else for a while longer because the Senate is going to try to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act one more time before September ends and while it can do it with the votes of only 50 senators.
  • Sex on campus

Look, the Great Campus Rape Crisis was mainly hype all along. What Vice President Joe Biden described as an epidemic of sexual violence sweeping American college campuses in 2011 was vastly overstated.
