USC's Pete Carroll in town

Posted on Tue, May 9, 2006 at 3:55 PM

No, he wasn't meeting with Little Rock bigwigs about taking over the Razorback head coaching job after cryin' Houston Nutt is finally shown the door. But the Southern Cal head football coach did stop in at Pulaski Academy one, to visit the coaching staff and recruit Broderick Green and (two) to meet any of the PA players who wanted to greet the national championship-winning Trojans coach. PA kept the appearance low key as possible, we're told by a source, but they did announce at the school that anyone wanting to come by the gym was welcome to meet Carroll.

Carroll in his early days as a coach worked under Lou Holtz as a graduate assistant at Arkansas. Southern Cal, which blasted the Hogs 70-17 last year and didn't lose for two years until falling to Texas in the Rose Bowl, will play at Fayetteville on Sept. 2. Green, a fullback and linebacker, has verbally committed to sign a national letter of intent with USC next February.
